INCEPTION

Christopher Nolan is a clever guy. Before he cashed in his chips as a Hollywood mega-weight by breathing life back into the Batman franchise with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, he shot to fame with hunt-a-memory mind-bender Memento and made a splash with the smoke and mirrors trickery of magic film The Prestige.

Well, there’s no denying Inception is his most ambitious – and dazzling movie to date, which takes his interest in the secret pockets of the sub-conscious to a whole new level as it navigates the frenzied maze of dreams, memories and perception.
Leonardo DiCaprio plays Dom Cobb, an ‘extractor’ who specialises in breaking into people’s dreams and ‘stealing’ information from their deepest, darkest sub-conscious.
When a mysterious businessman (Ken Watanabe) comes after him asking him to do the near impossible – plant an idea into someone else’s mind – he accepts the challenge and assembles a crack team to help him on his dream 'crime heist'.

Meanwhile, memories of his dead wife (Marion Cotillard) and estranged children threaten to derail the project.

Startlingly original, Inception is unlike any other film you’ll see this year. It’s a rare beast; an intelligent blockbuster that demands your full attention throughout the whole movie and oozes imagination.

Not only that but it has real heart behind its weighty ideas and gimmicks although its onslaught of double buffs will probably leave you scratching your head long after you’ve left the cinema.

DiCaprio continues on his quest to become the next Robert De Niro with a blistering performance while there is great support from the likes of Joseph Gordon-Levitt , Cillian Murphy , Michael Caine , Ellen Page and Tom Hardy as his partners in crime.

Like a giant cinematic jigsaw puzzle, Inception will keep you guessing right until the very end as it carries you through to the unbelievably tense climax. If ideas are the future of tomorrow, Inception certainly thinks bigger and better than the rest.

This is the movie to watch out for this summer .
