Veteran actors prove they are not expendable

The ensemble cast of veteran actors in the recently released movie “The Expendables” has an average age of 51, and early box office returns indicate it did matter that they showed up for this party.

The average age would have been higher had certain actors agreed to be in the movie. According to Screen Rant, it “seems evident that it was supposed to have more of the aging action stars thing happening than what ends up in the finished film. Among the actors that were approached to appear in some roles that ended up being filled by younger actors were Jean-Claude Van Damme, Wesley Snipes and Kurt Russell.”

BoxOffice.com com reports that the early weekend (domestic) estimates (Aug. 13 -15) on ticket sales for “The Expendables” is $33 million, which beats “Eat Pray Love” by $7 million and is almost three times the take of “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.”
