Doctor Who gains two more world records

Guinness World Records have awarded Doctor Who, the BBC's long-running science-fiction drama series, two new world records.

Doctor Who , which first aired in the UK in 1963, is named in the new Guinness World Records 2011 book as the world's longest running sci-fi programme for its 769 individual episodes, 212 storylines and full-length TV movie, Doctor Who (1996).
Matt Smith, the show's current lead and 11th reincarnation of the Doctor , is also honoured in the 2011 edition, after becoming the youngest actor to play the Doctor during the show's 47-year history.

Earlier this year, the programme's tie-in periodical, Doctor Who Magazine (DWM) – which has been published since 1979 – was named by Guinness World Records as the world’s “Longest Running Magazine Based on a Television Series”. Doctor Who itself already holds Guinness World Records for the world’s “Most Successful Sci-Fi Series” and “Longest Running Sci-Fi Series”.
