THE POWER OF MUSIC

FIRST OFF ... LET ME STATE THAT THIS IS NOT FUNNY .......... IT IS IN FACT ..... INTERESTING

Tourette's was once considered a rare and bizarre syndrome, most often associated with the exclamation of obscene words or socially inappropriate and derogatory remarks (coprolalia), but this symptom is present in only a small minority of people with Tourette's. Tourette's is no longer considered a rare condition, but it may not always be correctly identified because most cases are classified as mild. Between 1 and 10 children per 1,000 have Tourette's; as many as 10 per 1,000 people may have tic disorders, with the more common tics of eye blinking, coughing, throat clearing, sniffing, and facial movements. People with Tourette's have normal life expectancy and intelligence. The severity of the tics decreases for most children as they pass through adolescence, and extreme Tourette's in adulthood is a rarity. Notable individuals with Tourette's are found in all walks of life.

Although the word "involuntary" is used to describe the nature of the tics, this is not entirely accurate. It would not be true to say that people with TS have absolutely no control over their tics, as though it was some type of spasm; rather, a more appropriate term would be "compelling." People with TS feel an irresistable urge to perform their tics, much like the need to scratch a mosquito bite. Some people with TS are able to hold back their tics for up to hours at a time, but this only leads to a stronger outburst of tics once they are finally allowed to be expressed.

People with TS are more likely to have any combination of the following problems:

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Difficulties with Impulse Control (disinhibition)

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Various Learning Disabilities (such as dyslexia)

Various Sleep Disorders

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN , I GIVE YOU ..... THE MAIN MEAL

THE MAIN MEAL : I am married , have 3 kids .. Read Tarot cards , do astrology , love fringe science , write poems/ditties/short songs .. smoke , drink etc ... Enjoy reading .... oh yes , I have Tourettes ( full blown, you know, swearing and aggresive jerking ...) and I'm a High Functioning Autistic .... Basically , I'm a dream come true .. no not really , thats just silliness .... " I find my ridiculous condition funny, so I really have no option but to see it in a humorous way ... I understand why its funny as I look back at it and piss meself laughing ... not that I am totally self absorbed, I just have a nuts sense of humour ... "

HE DID FORGET TO MENTION THAT HE IS BRAVE , OUTGOING , AND NOT A BAD SINGER

My mother was a singing teacher , and she had a student who had a terrible stutter in everyday life ...... but when it came to singing .... it vanished ........ ahh , the power of music.
