The Old West .. where a lone cowboy [Daniel Craig] leads an uprising against a terror from beyond our world. 1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Harrison Ford). It's a town that lives in fear. But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known. Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been ......



Jon Favreau is to direct an upcoming Universal/DreamWorks screen adaptation of the comic. Robert Downey, Jr. was initially in talks to star as Jake Johnson, but the role has subsequently gone to Daniel Craig due to scheduling issues on Downey's behalf. Olivia Wilde is to play Ella. Noah Ringer has also been cast in the adaption ; he is set to play Emmett. Harrison Ford will play the part of Col. Woodrow Dolarhyde. Sam Rockwell has also joined the cast as Doc, reteaming with Favreau after Iron Man 2. Adam Beach has been confirmed to take on the role of Nat Colorado. The script was written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Damon Lindelof. Kurtzman, Orci, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, and Brian Grazer are producing.

TRUE GRIT

Following the murder of her father by hired hand Tom Chaney, 14-year-old farm girl Mattie Ross sets out to capture the killer. To aid her, she hires the toughest U.S. marshal she can find, a man with "true grit," Reuben J. "Rooster" Cogburn. Mattie insists on accompanying Cogburn, whose drinking, sloth, and generally reprobate character do not augment her faith in him. Against his wishes, she joins him in his trek into the Indian Nations in search of Chaney. They are joined by Texas Ranger LaBoeuf, who wants Chaney for his own purposes. The unlikely trio find danger and surprises on the journey, and each has his or her "grit" tested.

True Grit [2010] is written and directed by the Coen brothers and star's Jeff Bridges, Josh Brolin and Matt Damon. The film is an adaptation of the 1968 novel by Charles Portis which was previously adapted for film in 1969. Filming began on March 2010 with an anticipated release date of December 25, 2010.
