The Trip is a improvised comedy series which follows two actors on a culinary tour of the north of England. The series stars Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon. Steve has been commissioned to review six different restaurants for a Sunday newspaper and plans the trip with his American girlfriend only for her to dump him before the trip begins. Steve ends up inviting his friend Rob to accompany him and the two of them find themselves debating the big questions of life over a series of different meals.
