FIFA PRESIDENT SEPP BLATTER FALLS ON HIS ARSE

WORLD CUP GOSSIP

Too late, it would appear the Football Association have decided to grow a pair and tell the truth about FIFA.

Acting chairman Roger Burden withdrew his candidacy for the permanent role on the grounds he did not trust the governing body and would not deal with them, and the execrable friendly with Thailand in June will not take place, because it was only arranged in exchange for a vote, which did not materialise.

No doubt the Thai royal family - whose celebrations were the flimsy cover for this travesty of a game - will delight in welcoming Russia to Bangkok instead, or the stars of the Qatar national team.

Indeed, after the bid announcement on Thursday, the members of the FIFA executive committee were asked to name their favourite Qatar player. They said Eric Clapton.

London mayor Boris Johnson has withdrawn the offer of a free stay at a famous top London hotel for all FIFA executives during the 2012 Olympics.

In a move that appears to be a side-swipe at football's ruling body following the vote by FIFA to grant the World Cup venue in 2018 to Russia and not England, Mr Johnson has removed free hotel accommodation that had been awarded to Sepp Blatter, FIFA president and his team at the Dorchester Hotel.

AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN

Millions watch as live broadcast TV stunt goes wrong

A packed audience along with millions of television viewers at home were left shocked as a stuntman attempted to jump over five cars wearing kangaroo spring boots on a popular German television show.

Amateur stuntman Samuel Koch, 23, was preparing to leap over the third car of five on his spring-loaded stilts. He hit the car windscreen then somersaulted over the car and landed face-first on the stage floor just feet away from a shocked studio audience. He is in the University Hospital of Dusseldorf with serious injuries.

Presenter Thomas Gottschalk announced he was calling off the show. He has been presenting the show since 1987 and it is believed this is the first time he has had to do this.

The show, Wetten, Dass is the most popular Saturday night show in Europe. In English it means, "I bet that...", it is broadcast live to millions in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and often features A-list celebrities like Katy Perry, Phil Collins, Gérard Depardieu and pop stars Take That. Teenage heart-throb Justin Bieber later announced on Twitter that he will be cancelling his appearance on the variety show following the horrific stunt.

Facebook profile pictures taken over by cartoon characters

Are you wondering why many of your Facebook friends suddenly changed their profile picture to cartoon characters? The latest fad to go viral on the social networking site has users changing their profile pictures to cartoon images from their childhood.

The objective of this latest trend is not to see any human faces on Facebook in support of the fight to stop Violence Against Children.

Email notices and Facebook status updates read - from now until December 6:

"Change your profile picture to your favorite cartoon from when you were a kid," it says on the note that is being passed around between friends. "The goal of this game is not to see a human picture on Facebook, but an invasion of childhood memories until Monday. PLAY AND PASS ALONG!"

THE WALKING DEAD - SEASON FINALE

TS-19

AMC’s The Walking Dead is officially a hit, and fans no doubt went into the season finale, “TS-19″, with an equal mix of anticipation and frustration; Anticipation to see what Rick Grimes and his fellow survivors uncover in the mysterious bunker at the Center for Disease Control –
- frustration at the fact that this sixth episode of The Walking Dead is the last in what now feels like a first season cut painfully short, just as a promising new show is hitting its stride.

“TS-19″ was a fairly good season finale episode. First and foremost, the episode dangled some new plot points to drive storylines for season 2 forward on both the over-arching and subplot levels. What was it that Dr. Jenner (Noah Emmerich) whispered in Rick’s ear just before the explosion? That question will likely keep fans on chat forms for the next year pitching speculation. (Was it a word of hope or a warning of doom ?)

There’s also the bubbling, soon-to-be-boiling subplot of the Rick-Lori-Shane love triangle, which took a pretty drastic turn this week during Shane’s drunken assault/attempted rape of Lori. Flashback to one of the first scenes of the pilot – Rick and Shane’s talk about how to deal with women – and the Lori/Shane confrontation becomes an even more poignant foreshadow of what’s to come. We know Shane isn’t a man who gives up what he sees as his territory – and when Rick finds out that his best friend left him for dead (a great scene that kicked off this episode), slept with his wife, and has since tried to sleep with her again since his return… needless to say, the fallout is going to be epic, and bloody.

This season 1 finale also touched on a fantastic theme that I hope becomes the undercurrent of this show: how one sustains the will to live in the midst of hell. As much as I care about these characters, Dr. Jenner’s argument about how and when one chooses to die was deep enough to make me totally understand if Rick’s group just decided to end it all there in the CDC, rather than once again face the hell waiting outside. Total head trip. When Andrea stayed behind to die, broken by tragedy and hopelessness, and Dale plopped himself down in a chair committed to die with her, for a second I thought that Darabont and Co. might actually do the unthinkable and kill off two of the best characters, just as they were beginning to develop. Thankfully that was not the case.

Finally, the computer image of “Test Subject 19″ (Doctor Jenner’s scientist wife turned zombie) and Jenner’s speeches about the nature of humanity – while equally hammy and syrupy – made for some compelling television that at least tried to say more about the world than most other zombie tales do.

The Walking Dead actor Michael Rooker has teased when fans can expect to see his controversial character Merle Dixon return to the series. The actor suggested that when Merle returns in a future season of the show he may have changed slightly, due to the discussion that viewers say Merle has with God just before he disappeared.

The show's most recent episode, 'In The Beginning', attracted a season high of 2.5m viewers, up 43 per cent from the fifth season premiere.

In 2008, Showtime renewed the drama for two additional seasons. However, this year's renewal is expected to be for a single run, since cast contracts will expire at the conclusion of a sixth season.

AN IRISH TEST

SO YOU THINK YOU'RE IRISH ? ...... TRY SINGING THIS THEN

In the merry month of May, From my home I started,
Left the girls of Tuam, Nearly broken hearted,
Saluted father dear, Kissed my darlin' mother,
Drank a pint of beer, My grief and tears to smother,
Then off to reap the corn, And leave where I was born,
I cut a stout blackthorn, To banish ghost and goblin,
In a brand new pair of brogues, I rattled o'er the bogs,
And frightened all the dogs,On the rocky road to Dublin.

One, two, three, four five,
Hunt the hare and turn her
Down the rocky road
And all the ways to Dublin,
Whack-fol-lol-de-ra.

In Mullingar that night, I rested limbs so weary,
Started by daylight, Next mornin' light and airy,
Took a drop of the pure, To keep my heart from sinkin',
That's a paddy's cure, Whene'er he's on for drinking.
To see the lasses smile, Laughing all the while,
At my curious style, 'Twould set your heart a-bubblin'.
They ax'd if I was hired, The wages I required,
Till I was almost tired, Of the rocky road to Dublin.

In Dublin next arrived, I thought it such a pity,
To be so soon deprived, A view of that fine city.
Then I took a stroll, All among the quality,
My bundle it was stole, In a neat locality;
Something crossed my mind, Then I looked behind;
No bundle could I find, Upon my stick a wobblin'.
Enquirin' for the rogue, They said my Connacht brogue,
Wasn't much in vogue, On the rocky road to Dublin.

From there I got away, My spirits never failin'
Landed on the quay As the ship was sailin';
Captain at me roared, Said that no room had he,
When I jumped aboard, A cabin found for Paddy,
Down among the pigs I played some funny rigs,
Danced some hearty jigs, The water round me bubblin',
When off Holyhead, I wished myself was dead,
Or better far instead, On the rocky road to Dublin.

The boys of Liverpool, When we safely landed,
Called myself a fool; I could no longer stand it;
Blood began to boil, Temper I was losin',
Poor ould Erin's isle They began abusin',
"Hurrah my soul," sez I, My shillelagh I let fly;
Some Galway boys were by, Saw I was a hobble in,
Then with a loud hurray, They joined in the affray.
We quickly cleared the way, For the rocky road to Dublin.

The Truth

DID YOU KNOW ................

FIFA requested, as a condition if England had mounted a successful bid, exclusion from a range of UK laws including one governing Banks and Foreign Exchange Operations. FIFA had asked for 'the unrestricted import and export of all foreign currencies to and from the UK' and, worse, they got it.

So, had England hosted the World Cup, FIFA executives were free to move around with sacks of unexplained cash, exempt from the inquisition of customs officers.

What Are the Odds?

Unless you're a twin, the odds that you'll share a birthday with a member of your family are pretty low. And the chances of falling in love with someone born on the same day as you and then having a child also born on that same day are really astronomical: about 1 in 133,225.

However, a couple in St. Paul, Minn., recently beat the odds and got the birthday present of a lifetime in the process.

That's because the two had a little baby boy on Nov. 24 -- which just happens to be both of their birthdays.

Jamal White celebrated his 21st birthday not in a bar but in a hospital, while his wife, Tiara, celebrated her 22nd by giving birth to their first child, Jamal White Jr.

They weren't planning on their birthdays being an actual "birth day" for Jamal Jr., who weighed in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces, when he was born. In fact, at first they didn't want him to be born that day, Tiara says.

"We actually wanted him to be born on the 23rd or 25th," Tiara told AOL News. "That way, he wouldn't have to share his birthday."

That's not all: Tiara's last name was "White" even before she got together with Jamal -- which she didn't quite believe when they met.

Filmmaker Produces First Film Designed to Put You to Sleep

Most filmmakers wouldn't want to be told their films put people to sleep, but it's a compliment to director Sondra Lowell.

In fact, putting people to sleep is her goal as the self-proclaimed inventor of a new genre she calls "film sleepy."

Lowell has made two such films thus far. The first, "WebcamMurder.com,"  is mostly shots of people sitting around in front of webcams 24/7, wondering how to get Web surfers to tune in on their uneventful lives.

"It sounds a lot more excited than it is," she told AOL News.

The second is "Sublime Crime: A Subliminal Mystery,"  and Lowell claims it is the first entirely subliminal mystery in history.

"It is a big step forward in movies worth sleeping through," she said. "It is mostly a blank screen with flashes of plot and personal growth affirmations, accompanied by an unintelligible binaural soundtrack."

So far, the critics are in agreement with Lowell about the quality of her work. For instance, the Los Angeles Times called WebcamMurder.com "the most boring talkie ever made," and the reviews for "Sublime Crime" have been just as positive.

But Lowell didn't start out wanting to make boring films. In her case, it's a matter of making cinematic lemonade out of lemons.

"I've always wanted to make a movie but found I was good at putting people to sleep," Lowell said. "I took classes at UCLA and the teachers would fall apart when I made a script. People would tell me that I didn't understand how to make a story and told me the scenes should build on each other.

"I thought I was doing that, but people fell asleep. It took me awhile to realize I was on to something."

That something was "film sleepy," a genre that respects the idea that an audience has the right to grab 40 winks while the film is on the screen.

"People are so connected to the Internet or their smart phones that they need a way to let go," she said.

Lowell believes that her films are a non-narcotic way for people to fall asleep, but admits all the evidence is apocryphal.

"I've showed these film to large audiences hoping to see if everyone falls asleep, but I fall asleep myself and can't tell if anyone did," she said.

The latest film, "Sublime Crime: A Subliminal Mystery," cost $103 to make, $3 for the DVD tape and $100 to pay herself for acting as per Screen Actors Guild union rules.

Bees cross city for cherry juice

A New York woman, Cerise Mayo whose bees have been showing bright red coloring said she thinks they are traveling back to her old neighborhood for maraschino cherry juice.

Mayo said a friend jokingly suggested the bees weretraveling to the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, where she previously kept the insects until moving in May, to feed from the vats at Dell's Maraschino Cherries Co.

However, she said the substance turning the bees red was later identified by an expert as Red Dye No. 40, the dye used for the cherries, and workers at the company reported seeing unusually large numbers of bees around the business. traveling to the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, where she previously kept the insects until moving in May, to feed from the vats at Dell's Maraschino Cherries Co.
