Chelsea boosted in race for Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea's hopes of signing Romelu Lukaku have been boosted after snaps of the wonderkid wearing a Blues shirt at Stamford Bridge were posted on Facebook.
The Anderlecht forward - dubbed the 'new Didier Drogba' - is one of Europe's brightest young talents and has been linked with moves to Arsenal, AC Milan and Real Madrid.

But Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti has been encouraged in the race to sign the 17-year-old after photos of him wearing the current Chelsea home jersey in the Stamford Bridge dug out and press conference room were posted on the popular social networking website.
Chelsea insist 6ft 4ins Lukaku was on a stadium tour that is open to members of the public and not on a trip organised specially by the club.

Anderlecht value Lukaku between £8m-£10m but are determined to hold on to their prized asset for as long as possible.
Reports in Belgium suggest Lukaku would prefer a move to the Premier League champions once he leaves the Jupiler League and the snaps provide more substance to the thought that Ancelotti is set to win the race for the teenage sensation.

Belgium FA spokesman Niclas Cornu has even claimed Drogba's been in contact with Lukaku to make sure the teenage powerhouse chooses Chelsea.
In a conversation with Cornu, the Ivory Coast star said: 'I've even called him [Lukaku].

'I got his phone number from Vincent Kompany. I told him: "You have to sign for Chelsea".'
Lukaku burst onto the scene last season after firing 15 goals in 33 appearances for Anderlecht and he already has two caps for Belgium.

In fairness , those pictures are from the start of the summer break , but Chelsea have been chasing his signature since early 2008 when Luis Felipe Scolari was the manager of Chelsea FC . It is believed that Lukaku will remain at Anderlecht for one more year to finish his studies before a move to the Bridge next summer .
