WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE aka JOHNNY CAVE who had hit songs during the 1970s, died this week at the age of 61, following years filled with depression, alcohol and poverty.
The glam rocker, who was born John Stanley Cave sang in pubs and clubs until he came to the attention of writer-producers Harry Vanda and George Young. He soon had two number one hits – “My Little Angel” and “Can't Stop Myself from Loving You” - and a debut album that sold 375,000 copies.
