World Cup ended on a sour note after he was caught spitting towards a cameraman following Portugal's 1-0 loss to Spain in the second round.Portugal captain Ronaldo reacted angrily to the cameraman's attempts to follow him off the pitch in close proximity immediately after the final whistle, waving him away before spitting in his direction while looking down the barrel of the camera, an act that was broadcast around the world.
While he was taking his frustration out on the man behind the lens, Ronaldo's spit appeared to the global audience to be directed towards them in an ugly act that could upset many of the fans of one of football's most marketable men.
It's not been an easy year for the Real Madrid striker , this time last year he was on top of the world [not to mention on top of Paris Hilton] looking forward to the approaching season thinking that the world would be his for the taking , but alas ........ it was not to be .
Both he and Real Madrid fell short of the mark ending the season trophy-less having been knocked out of the cup competitions early and losing La Liga to Barcelona on the last day . Still ...... its no excuse to take it out on the rest of us .
AND FOR ALL THOSE OF YOU WHO INVESTED IN A NEW 3D TV FOR THE WORLD CUP , I HOPE YOU DIDN'T END UP WIPING YOUR SPECS THINKING THAT THEY WERE COVERED IN SPITTLE AFTER THE GAME .... IT IS REALISTIC ..... ISN'T IT ?
