PETER Crouch’s family were left terrified as they were mugged in South Africa by a pack of marauding baboon
The animals burst in through an open window before running riot through their Sun City apartment.
And the family shook with fear as the baboons, which can grow more than five feet tall, have three-inch fangs and can kill humans, hunted for food.
A source close to the family said: “One minute they were sat back having a bit of peace and quiet, the next thing they were confronted by these terrifying beasts.
“It all sounds funny to say some monkeys popped in and burgled them. The actual experience was anything but.
It was like having wild Alsatian dogs in the lounge with them. Fortunately they left without causing any harm.”
Crouch’s model fiancée Abbey Clancy, 24, said his parents Bruce and Jayne, both 50, were left petrified by the raid in their Vacation Club complex 25 miles from England’s training camp.
Bruce was watching TV in the lounge and Jayne was having a lie down when the animals burst in.
Abbey told James Corden’s World Cup Live on ITV: “These three baboons jumped in, walked straight through the bedroom into the lounge to the fruit bowl, took what they wanted and walked out.”
Baboons often raid homes for food. The resort employs guards to patrol the grounds with pellet guns to scare off the animals.
