AND JUST IN CASE YOU MISSED THIS ..........

Last night was the YouTube event of the year. That's right, the Liverpool fans' protest video - directed by Hollywood type Mike Jefferies - was released into the world. It consists of a long line of Liverpool fans staring straight down the camera and pointing out that Tom Hicks is a nasty man.

It features several slightly famous people, several sort-of famous people, several people we feel we should recognise but can't quite place, several ordinary Joes, that fella who does impressions of Rafa, Jamie and Stevie, Jimmy Corkhill and Craig from Big Brother.

Unfortunately, despite asking some actual famous people to star in the video, Mike Myers and Samuel L Jackson are absent.

As you might expect, it is full of the most hysterical, sanctimonious bulls**t one could possibly imagine, and to save you the six minutes 42 seconds Mediawatch wasted watching the thing, here are the choice cuts...

From Scouser-for-hire Ricky Tomlinson: "People like you have come along and stolen, not only the club from us, but the game from us...It's about money, it's about profit, it's about greed." (Quite what Tomlinson thought two American venture capitalists with no previous connection to English sport were after when they bought the club is unclear.)

From some ordinary Joe: "The only way you'd ever understand it, how we feel about this club, is if someone burned your house down." (Arson? Really?)

From 'comedian' John Bishop: "Professionally, I'm a comedian, but I've never seen anything as funny as what you've created." (Until this video, obviously.)

From someone we sort of recognise, but couldn't tell you the name of: "We had the world famous Kop, who sang with one voice - now that voice is pointing at you." (Can a voice point?)

And finally, our absolute favourite, from Ian McCulloch (of Echo and the Bunnymen fame), who sounds like he's enjoyed a very refreshing liquid lunch:

"I wanted to say to Tom Hicks...Imagine if your family - which is what Liverpool football club is to most people, especially the real fans that go home and away, it's their family - it's like you're raping all of them at once, over a long period of time and getting away with it."

So there you go - two prongs making a bit of a mess of a football club is the same as raping your entire family.

Not like Liverpool fans to overreact, is it?
